-> Mandated Reporting Workshops/Trainings
This workshop/training for educators is the only professional sexual abuse curriculum offered in any of the counties served by The Child Center. Programs are tailored to meet the needs and time constraints of individual schools and therefore vary in length from 1 ½ to 3 hours. The workshop for school professionals is offered either before or after school hours or on a staff development day to enable all staff to attend without necessitating absences from the teaching day. Strategies include presentations that incorporate a PowerPoint seminar, group discussion, and one-on-on consultations, if requested. The essential elements of the program teach educators: · dynamics of sexual abuse · signs of sexual abuse · the role of the mandated reporter · legal definitions of sexual abuse/assault · response skills · types of disclosures · how to handle child sexual abuse disclosures · the role of The Child Center, Children’s Division, and law enforcement in child sexual abuse cases.
